Garage Organizing
Garages tend to be the dumping ground during the winter months. With our winter months being so cold, we often don't want to be caught outside in the garage. Many people would love to have their garage organized but most people don't want to spend large amounts of money on a space they don't live in. When we organize a garage, our main goal is for it to be functional. Yes, we do have clients who also want it to look pretty, but our main goal is for it to be organized so that it is easy to maintain the organization. A few cost-efficient ways to organize a garage are:
- Purge the items in your garage. Items you don't use or need, get rid of them. Recycle, donate, sell, or garbage it. If you haven't used something in one season, then it's time to let it go. Once you have purged you will know exactly how many things need to be stored in your garage.
- Instead of installing an entire system, install only what you need. Instead of having the entire wall full of shelves that may not get used, only install the size you need. We have found that Rona offers some great solutions in a variety of sizes (www.rona.ca).
- Use the vertical space in your garage. We like to have as few items on the ground as possible. There are many different supplies out in the market for using vertical space. We love the track system! You can purchase tracking for the entire wall (www.cabinetsbyhayley.com) or just what you need (www.canadiantire.ca). You will be amazed at how much you can hang off a wall.
